How PDF Compression Works

Our PDF compressor uses Ghostscript to aggressively downsample images inside your PDF, optimize embedded fonts, and strip metadata. You choose between three levels: Extreme (targets ~500KB, 72 dpi), High (72 dpi with better quality), and Medium (150 dpi for readable charts). The file never leaves your browser session—processing happens on our secure server and files are deleted immediately after.

When You Need a Smaller PDF

Job Applications & CVs

Many HR portals (Workday, Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors) enforce a 500KB or 1MB upload limit. Compress your resume PDF to fit.

Government Forms

Tax filings, visa applications, and permit uploads often have strict size caps. Shrink without losing legibility.

Email Attachments

Gmail and Outlook cap attachments at 25MB, but large PDFs slow everything down. Compress to send faster.

University Submissions

Thesis uploads, assignment portals, and scholarship applications frequently limit file sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my PDF still be readable after compression?

Yes. Even at Extreme level, text remains sharp because we only downsample raster images (photos, scans). Vector text and line art are untouched.

Is there a file size limit for uploads?

You can upload PDFs up to 50MB. The compressor works best on image-heavy PDFs—if your PDF is mostly text, there may not be much to compress.

Do you store my files?

No. Files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after you download the result. Nothing is saved on our servers.
